Why herringbone parquet flooring will never go out of style

Ask any house proud individual what their dream flooring would be and there’s a very good chance they’ll respond with “parquet flooring”. This flooring style has been used since the 17th century, initially introduced in Versailles to replace marble flooring, and, despite a short-lived love for lino in the 1970’s, its popularity has never really waned. This floor is a great investment, here are a few reasons why we think parquet flooring will never go out of style.

The traditional herringbone pattern often associated with parquet flooring is the most popular and enduring pattern, and makes this flooring style instantly recognisable throughout the ages, although a square geometric shape is also quite common. It’s the perfect choice if you would like a range with a diverse look and hint of personality.

One of the reasons why herringbone parquet flooring will never go out of style is thanks to its longevity and durability as a flooring choice. With other floor options, they can wear and date very quickly making a home look old-fashioned, but the beauty of herringbone parquet flooring is that it can last for generations. Over time if it starts to look worn, it can be sanded down and refinished to bring new life to it again.

This is a low-maintenance floor, you really can’t go wrong with, another reason why they’ll never go out of style – who wants to spend all their time on housework? Because it is so durable and fuss-free it also makes for an excellent flooring for heavy commercial settings such as offices, boutiques and restaurants. It’s easy to install as well, which makes for much less of a headache for your joiner.

Another key reason why parquet flooring will never go out of style is due to the beautiful colours and grains of the solid wood used, which ages over time and matures into a stunning and unique feature for any home. The herringbone pattern also helps any floor stand out as being something very individual and not seen in many homes, so if good design is important to you then you’ll love this option.
